Parent Involvement Office | ||||

The Parent Involvement Office and Parent Center is located at the Instructional Resource Center (IRC), 3001 S. Pulaski, Room 7 (30th & Dr. M.L. King Dr). The office is available to facilitate workshops for parents and professional development inservice for administrators and teachers in regards to promoting parental and family involvement in the schools. The office provides materials, books, videos and magazines through a checkout system and give-aways. Contact our office at 447-3357 for more information. LRSD Parent Center offers parent involvement information and materials to assist parents and District staff with parent and family involvement. Free books and pamphlets. Books, videos and DVD on various topices are available for checkout. For more information call 447-3358. PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT The school district will be governed by the following statutory definition of parental involvement, and expects that it's Title I schools will carry out programs, activities and procedures in accordance with this definition: Parental involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, including ensuring — (A) that parents play an integral role in assisting their child's learning; (B) that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education at school; (C) that parents are full partners in their child's education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child; (D) the carrying out of other activities, such as those described in Section 1118 of the ESEA.
